Media Review from LA Yoga Magazine
Musician/Producer Mark Peacock combines elements of ambient groove, electronica, trance and world beat on this 14-track album of instrumental compositions.
This is a very smooth, tasty album that is easy to listen to. It does, however, stay on a pretty steady vibration.
I enjoy this album and I do want to recommend it for something, I’m just not sure what. This is as “advertised” an “ambient” album, yet won’t work for meditation because it does have a lot of fluctuation and calls attention to itself too much, It isn’t intended for yoga rooms. Nevertheless, all the tunes here are sweet, ethereal and provide a mystical flow that feeds the listener’s imagination and inspire very positive, soothing emotions.
Peacock’s guitar and bass contributions are top notch, as are the superb violin tracks by J’Anna Jacoby who has credits with Rod Stewart, Michael Tovar, known for his work with Los Lobos, and Chaka Khan, plays some lead guitar.
The album’s consistent theme in memories and reflections and it does succeed in producing music that is memorable. There is nothing wrong with this ambient album, and I think massage therapists might really want to check into using it for background music.
Momentos is a solid sophomore outing by a group of respectable and talented musicians who have the right idea.
